Argentina

A land of passion, flavour, and awe-inspiring landscapes

Salt flats, steak and soul-stirring moments

From the sultry tango halls of Buenos Aires to the towering glaciers of Patagonia, Argentina is a country of dramatic contrasts.

One minute you’re feasting on sizzling steaks and sipping world-class malbecs in stylish city restaurants; the next, you’re standing spellbound before the thundering beauty of Iguazú Falls, where nature calls the shots in spectacular style.

Stand in awe of the vast salt flats of Jujuy Province, sip and swirl your way through the vineyards of Cafayate, hit the open road along legendary Route 40, or saddle up with gauchos across the sprawling pampas. And if you’re a football fan? Time your visit for a local match – the atmosphere is electric, spine-tingling, unforgettable.

Whether it’s the culture, cuisine or cinematic scenery that’s calling you, every moment in Argentina is wrapped in passion. This isn’t a country that does things halfway.

Flight time

The flight from Auckland to Argentina takes roughly 15.5 hours with a stopover. Despite the longish travel time, the vibrant culture and stunning landscapes make it worth the trip.

Best time to go

Spring (September–November) and Autumn (March–June) are ideal for exploring Argentina’s cities with fewer crowds. For hiking Patagonia or enjoying summer festivals, visit between December and February, when the south is at its warmest.

Time difference

Argentina is between 15 and 16 hours behind New Zealand, depending on Daylight Saving at our end, so it's a bit of a difference.

My love of languages and exploring the world has naturally evolved into a career in travel. I enjoy discovering what motivates your travels and tailoring your trip to suit your own style and interests.

I have travelled extensively across Europe and lived abroad both in the UK and Paraguay. Recent travel highlights include cruising Hawaii’s Islands and experiencing the best of Washington DC.

My special interest is in cruising, from the world’s largest floating resorts to casually cruising Europe’s rivers or the more adventurous Expedition ships to the Antarctic. There is a cruise possibility for every personality and preference!

I look forward to getting to know you and helping you to get the most out of your next adventure.

House of Travel Dunedin

I have been in the travel industry since 1987 as a tour leader, travel advisor, traveler visiting the globe, and now Owner Operator of House of Travel Dunedin City.

My travels have encompassed 105 countries initially using all forms of transport from a double decker bus around Europe to rickshaws in Asia to horses in the Middle East and dugout canoes in Central Africa with camels, elephants, donkeys and bicycles in-between.

I am more than willing to travel in a lot more comfort these days visiting the Pacific, Myanmar, India, Vietnam, Ireland, China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, USA, Cayman Islands, Zimbabwe, Turkiye and Malta in recent years.

I believe the transition is similar for people of my generation who still yearn to visit anywhere and everywhere but enjoy a bit, or a lot, more luxury. As such I have developed an in-depth knowledge of the whole spectrum of travel options and regularly come up with solutions to the most complex of travel plans.
