Looking for things to do for foodies in Victoria? Look no further.

There’s something undeniably special about discovering a destination through its food, and in Victoria’s gourmet heartland, that experience becomes truly unforgettable. If you’re searching for unique foodie experiences in Australia, this immersive Italian cooking class at Pizzini Wines offers a taste of Italy without leaving Victoria.

Nestled in the picturesque King Valley, just a few hours from Melbourne, Pizzini Wines brings together rolling vineyards, warm hospitality and generations of Italian heritage. It’s the perfect addition to a Victoria holiday, especially for Kiwi travellers craving something authentic, hands-on, and deliciously different.

A taste of Italy in regional Victoria.

The King Valley is often referred to as Australia’s “Little Italy” - and for good reason. Known for its strong Italian roots and cool-climate wines, this region is a must-visit for those planning food and wine tours in Victoria.

At the heart of it all sits Pizzini Wines, a family-owned winery where passion for food, wine and tradition is woven into every experience. Here, your journey begins not just as a visitor, but as a welcomed guest.

Start your day at the cellar door.

Your culinary adventure kicks off with a relaxed and intimate morning tea at the Pizzini cellar door, hosted by Katrina Pizzini herself. This isn’t your typical winery stop, it’s a chance to connect, learn and ease into the day at a distinctly Italian pace.

Expect freshly baked treats, locally sourced ingredients and a glimpse into the winemaking traditions that have shaped the region. It’s the perfect introduction for those exploring Victoria winery experiences and looking for something more personal than a standard tasting.

Hands-on Italian cooking at A Tavola!

Next, it’s time to roll up your sleeves.

At the renowned A Tavola! Cooking School, you’ll step into a vibrant kitchen where time-honoured Italian recipes come to life. Guided by passionate experts, you’ll learn how to craft authentic dishes using seasonal produce sourced from King Valley.

From hand-rolled pasta to rich, slow-cooked sauces, every step is designed to be interactive, educational and - most importantly - fun. Whether you’re a seasoned home cook or simply love great food, this is one of the best cooking classes in Victoria, Australia for travellers wanting an immersive cultural connection.

More than just a class, it’s a celebration of Italian food traditions that bring people together around the table.

Wine tasting straight from the barrel.

No Italian-inspired experience would be complete without exceptional wine.

After your time in the kitchen, you’ll explore Pizzini’s award-winning range with a guided tasting, including the rare opportunity to sample varietals straight from the barrel. Known for producing outstanding Prosecco, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and more, Pizzini Wines showcases the best of King Valley wine regions.

It’s a must for anyone searching for wine tasting experiences in Victoria, and the perfect pairing to freshly prepared dishes.

A long lunch to remember.

The highlight of your day? Sitting down to enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Gather around the table for a relaxed, multi-course Italian lunch featuring the very dishes you’ve helped create. Each course is thoughtfully paired with a selection of Pizzini wines, from crisp Prosecco to beautifully aged Nebbiolo.

This is slow travel at its finest. Relish long conversations, incredible flavours and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

For Kiwi travellers looking for luxury food and wine experiences in Australia, this is an experience you won’t forget.

Hi all - please note that I am on maternity leave until September 2026  :)

Customer service has always been drilled into me. After begging my way into a cafe job at 14, I then spent 12 years working in the hospitality industry supervising restaurants and managing specialty cafes which also founded my love for all different types of foods.

After spending 3 years in Melbourne, 6 months in South East Asia and a few years in the UK I finally made the switch to the travel industry where I have been able to share my love for travel and customer service ever since.

I made it through the dark years of COVID in the industry which has led me to know to dig that little bit deeper into my clients' travel plans to create that perfect trip, and ensure we really have the best option for you in terms of comfort, reliability, and service. As we just don't know what is round the corner, do we!

I've travelled extensively across Southeast Asia, UK and Europe, spent a lot of time exploring properties in Fiji (and relaxing by the beach), road tripped in California and in 2024 I visited South Africa in Feb, Japan, South Korea and Taipei! I've got many more places on my bucket list to visit, but if I haven't been, I've got a superb team of people behind me who have and we'll work out the best trip for you! My ultimate passion when I travel is trying local foods, and finding the best possible places to have that authentic experience that we wouldn't be able to have at home. So if that resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you and let's put together your foodie adventure, together :)
